About hours before writing this I completed the game with Nuclear ending. just minutes after I jumped on YouTube, searching Far Cry 5 ending explained video. Spoiler: I escaped.. Ironic that alot of the fan base for far cry 5 revolves around love for the Seed family, but then again the villains are what make far cry. Honestly, the walk away ending seemed pretty weak, because presumably it's cutting off a minute or two, ten at most, before the nukes drop.
The walk away ending is non canon, the resist ending is canon. I really like this explanation, but I'm not really sure what's explained about the ending by this. It explains the rest of the game though: The actions you take regarding prepper stashes and saving people, the cryptic musings by characters, and Sheriff Whitehorse's name.
Before I start out, let me make it clear that this post is primarily about tonal dissonance and quality of writing of Far Cry 5 specifically. This is mostly an observation I found incredibly pervasive and striking in my time with Far Cry 5, namely that the game offers the choice between playing a male or female protagonist but the writing – in so many ways – is quite obviously written for wZjH.
